Re: “Physical Therapy and the Camaraderie of Healing”(Cases, Feb. 17): Good physical therapy is not a supportive and informative stranger giving painful exercise drills for months at a time. Good physical therapy is being assessed at each visit for limitations and imbalances and reducing these limitations through manual treatment (i.e. massage, joint mobilization, muscle energy), appropriate and pain-free challenging exercise and education for self care and home exercises. Good physical therapy is about wellness, not pain, and prevention from recurrence.
